Band & Loop

The Band & Loop is the simplest space maintainer — a stainless steel band on the abutment tooth with a 0.036" wire loop extending to contact the distal surface of the tooth anterior to the extraction space.

• Molar Band — Preformed SS band on the tooth distal to the space • Wire Loop — 0.036" SS round wire, U-shaped loop • Solder Joint — Silver solder connecting wire to band • Loop Contact — Touches the distal surface of the anterior tooth

The loop physically prevents the tooth anterior to the extraction space from drifting distally. It is a passive appliance — it maintains existing space without applying active forces. Unilateral, single-tooth application only.
