The Silent Nite is a cost-effective MAD using bilateral connector bars linking separate upper and lower thermoplastic trays. A soft inner liner provides comfort and retention. It serves as an excellent entry-level device for mild to moderate OSA.
Components
• Upper Tray — Thermoformed thermoplastic with soft inner liner • Lower Tray — Thermoformed thermoplastic with soft inner liner • Bilateral Connector Bars — Rigid bars connecting upper and lower trays • Soft Inner Liner — Provides comfort and retention without clasps
How It Works
The connector bars link the upper and lower trays, preventing the mandible from retruding during sleep. The fixed bar length determines the advancement amount — unlike TAP or EMA, there is no fine titration after fabrication. Simple, reliable, and low-cost.
Digital Workflow
1. Receive intraoral scans and protrusive bite 2. 3D-print working models 3. Thermoform upper and lower trays 4. Inject soft inner liner 5. Attach bilateral connector bars at the prescribed length 6. Trim and polish 7. QC: Bar length verification, liner bond, tray fit
Manufacturing Standard
• Tray: Medical-grade thermoplastic, 1.5mm • Liner: Medical-grade EVA, 1.0mm soft • Connector Bars: Stainless steel or reinforced polymer • Budget-friendly MAD • QC: Bar length check, liner adhesion, tray retention
