What Is It?

The Panthera D-SAD is the thinnest MAD on the market (~1.0mm wall thickness), made from medical-grade PA12 nylon via selective laser sintering (SLS). It is 100% metal-free and uses a unique cam/follower connector that transmits force in the horizontal plane — reducing TMJ stress.

• Upper Tray — PA12 nylon, SLS 3D-printed, wall thickness ~1.0mm • Lower Tray — PA12 nylon, SLS 3D-printed • Cam/Follower Connectors — Nylon connectors on each side, interchangeable rods • Interchangeable Rods — 1mm incremental advancement, up to 15mm total

How It Works

The cam/follower mechanism on each side guides mandibular advancement through interchangeable rods. Unlike hook-and-bar designs (TAP) or elastic straps (EMA), the Panthera transmits force purely in the horizontal plane — minimizing vertical TMJ loading. The ultrathin design allows normal speech, drinking, and yawning while worn.

Digital Workflow

1. Receive intraoral scans — no physical impressions needed 2. CAD design the trays with 1.0mm offset in dental CAD software 3. Export STL files for SLS printing 4. SLS print in PA12 nylon at 100μm layer height 5. Post-process: Remove powder, tumble finish 6. Attach cam/follower connectors and starter rod set 7. QC: Wall thickness verification, connector function, surface finish
