The Essix Retainer is a clear, vacuum-formed thermoplastic retainer made from 0.75-1.0mm PETG sheet. It covers the full arch, is nearly invisible, and is the most aesthetic retainer option.
Components
• PETG Sheet — 0.75mm (standard) or 1.0mm (heavy) • Full-Arch Coverage — Wraps around all teeth • No Wires — Pure thermoplastic, no metal • Gingival Extension — 2-3mm beyond gingival margin
How It Works
The Essix retainer passively holds teeth in position through full-arch coverage. Unlike the Hawley, it cannot be adjusted — it either fits or it needs replacement. The full occlusal coverage also provides some protection against mild bruxism.
